Mats A. Carenback, 69, Born in Linköping, Sweden; Beloved husband of Litsa (nee Milionis) Carenback; Cherished father “Pappa” of Stephanie (Daniel) Jacklow and Lena (Adam) Pryde; Son of the late Joseph and Lena (nee Hede) Careback; Adored son-in-law of Barbara Milionis; Best papou ever to Mats, Alexandra and Amelia; Dear brother of Göran Carenback; Dearest brother-in-law to Dennis and Soula Ostler, Adam and Eleni Morris, Laby and Chrisoula Koulourianos; Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Mats immigrated from Sweden when he was just 19 years old to learn how to fly. He became a commercial airline pilot and flew for United Airlines for 40 years. He met the love of his life in Saginaw, Michigan, and they married in 1977. The two were blessed with a rare love that very few people in this lifetime get to experience. Together, they raised 2 beautiful girls, traveled the world together and instilled the strongest family values. He took his two new sons under his wing and was the greatest role model of what an amazing husband and father should be. He cherished every single moment he had with his family. He loved his grandchildren deeply and jumped at every opportunity to play with them. Mats was truly one of a kind. He made an impact on everyone he met with his positive attitude, calming demeanor, bright eyes, welcoming smile and infectious laugh. He had a unique way of making everyone feel important and inspired people to look at the silver lining in every situation.

The family requested to keep the funeral private, and there will be a celebration of life at a later date. The service may be viewed live and will be available to view on St. Nectarios Youtube channel Monday afternoon. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated.
